About Chit Chat
Chit Chat is a place to talk to someone you’ve never met. You press Start, and a few seconds later there’s one person on the other side of the screen. Not a room full of usernames. Not a feed. One person.
That’s most of the product, honestly. The rest is the stuff that makes that moment work: a quick way to move on when it doesn’t click, a way to keep in touch when it does, and buttons that deal with people who behave badly.
How it works
- Tap Start. There’s no sign-up form. A guest account is set up for you in the background, so the first chat is one tap away.
- Pick video, voice or text. Video is the default on the match screen. Not ready to be on camera? Choose voice or text there instead.
- Talk, or press Next. If the conversation is going somewhere, stay. If it isn’t, Next finds you someone else. Nobody is owed an explanation.
The full walkthrough, camera permissions included, is in How to start a video chat.
What Chit Chat is — and isn’t
It’s one-on-one, every time. You’re matched at random; there are no gender, country or interest filters to narrow who you meet.
There are no public chat rooms and no group calls. If you’ve used old-school chat rooms, this will feel different — quieter, and a lot more direct. We think that’s the point.
It’s free to start. New users get a few free matches; after that, calls use coins you buy yourself. No subscription is required to keep talking.
Keeping it decent
What you can do, and where:
- Next — in the chat itself: move on to someone new, no questions (or just hang up).
- Report — on the person’s profile (find them in your call history): pick a reason, add a short description and a screenshot. Accounts that break the rules may be restricted or removed.
- Block — also on their profile: stops that person contacting you. Undo it in Settings.
And one tool for the good chats: Follow, so you can find someone again after you’ve moved on. If you want the longer version of how to protect yourself, read Is it safe to talk to strangers online?
18+ only
Chit Chat is for adults. If you meet someone who looks under 18, don’t keep chatting — end it and report them from their profile.
