Getting started

Do I need to create an account?

No. Tap Start and you’re signed in as a guest automatically — no email, phone number or password. You can add profile details later if you want to.

How do I start a chat?

Tap Start Video Chat anywhere on the site. On the match screen, choose Video, Voice or Text (Video is selected by default), then press Start. Our step-by-step guide walks through it.

Can I pick who I get matched with?

No. Matching is random, one person at a time, and there are no gender or country filters. If you meet someone you want to talk to again, tap Follow.

During a chat

How do I skip to someone new?

Tap Next. In a video match it becomes available after a few seconds, so both people get a moment to see each other first.

How do I keep in touch with someone?

Tap Follow before you move on. People you follow are listed in your profile.

Can I chat without my camera?

Yes. Choose Voice or Text on the match screen before you press Start and your camera stays off.

Free matches and coins

Is Chit Chat free?

It’s free to start: new visitors get a few free matches. After those, video and voice calls are paid with coins.

How do coins work?

You top up coins in the wallet and they are used during paid calls. Coins are prepaid: a call only ever uses coins you’ve already bought.

My purchase went through but I don’t see the coins.

Payment confirmations can take a few minutes. Reopen the wallet to refresh. If they still haven’t arrived, email [email protected] with the time of purchase and your receipt (never send your full card number).

Can I get a refund?

Refunds depend on the payment method and the law where you live — see our Terms of Service, then email support with your order details.

The rules for purchases are in our Terms of Service.

Safety, reporting and blocking

How do I report someone?

Take a screenshot before you leave the chat. Then open their profile — your call history lists everyone you’ve talked to — open the menu and choose Report. Pick a reason, add a short description and attach the screenshot.

How do I block someone?

Open their profile (from your call history), open the menu and choose Block. They can’t contact you after that. Blocked people are listed in Settings, where you can also unblock them.

Someone is threatening me or asking for money.

Don’t pay and don’t reply. Save screenshots, report and block them, and read our safety guide for next steps. If you’re in danger, contact local police.

I think someone is under 18.

End the chat and report them straight away. Chit Chat is for adults only.

Camera, microphone and connection

My camera or microphone isn’t working.

Your browser has to allow it. On iPhone, check Settings › Safari › Camera and Microphone; on Android Chrome, tap the icon next to the address bar › Permissions; on desktop, click the icon at the left of the address bar. Also close any other app that’s using the camera.

The video freezes or goes black.

Usually the connection. Move closer to your Wi-Fi router or switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data, then start a new match. Voice and text use far less bandwidth if your connection is weak.

Which browsers work?

Recent versions of Safari, Chrome, Edge and Firefox on phones and computers. There’s nothing to download; you can add Chit Chat to your home screen for quick access.

Someone new is one tap away.

No download and no sign-up form. Start on video, or switch to voice or text on the next screen.
